SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — A former Southern California middle school teacher has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for obtaining nude photos from teens he met online.

The San Bernardino Sun says Eugene Ballentyne pleaded guilty in 2012 to attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Prosecutors say Ballentyne used an alias while talking to a 13-year-old New Jersey girl online and convinced her to send him nude photos.

New Jersey detectives tracked a photo the 30-year-old Ballantyne sent of himself sitting behind a desk in his classroom. The photo came with a Google Maps link that matched the address to Arrowview Middle School in San Bernardino.

FBI agents searched his computer and found photos from other teens, including a 15-year-old.

The San Bernardino Unified School District placed Ballantyne on leave in February 2012.
