WICKENBURG, Ariz. (AP) — A fatal two-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer rig has closed U.S. 93 in both directions about 35 miles north of Wickenburg in west-central Arizona.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the accident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. MST and that no additional information is available.

The highway is the main route between Phoenix on the south and Kingman and Las Vegas on the north, and the Arizona Department of Transportation says there is no alternate route close to U.S. 93.

ADOT says motorists traveling between Phoenix and Kingman could take Interstates 17 and 40.

According to ADOT, there is no estimate on when U.S. 93 will reopen.
