FERNLEY, NV (Mynews4.com & KRNV) - "We had an out of town game. I was trying to catch the bus." Randi Riede was on her way to school, a route she takes daily. "There was a silver sports car in front of me. I went a tad bit early crossed the yellow line," says Randi. That's when she says the driver of the sports car got out. According to Randi, "He started freaking out. He gets out this badge and says, I'm a cop I'm a cop pull over." Randi says after pulling over the man got out of his car and asked for her driver’s license. "He takes it and says, 'You're under arrest follow me to the station'."

"I just thought he was an officer off duty. But he put away the badge before he got to my car."

The man driving the sports car was not a police officer, but Municipal Court Judge Daniel Bauer.

According to the Lyon County District Attorney, by using his badge to pull Randi over, Bauer was exercising the powers of the Nevada Highway Patrol.  Now he is being charged with a misdemeanor, wrongful exercise of official power. By allegedly stating that Randi was under arrest, and having her follow him, Bauer has been charged with oppression under color of office, also a misdemeanor.

Attempts to speak with Judge Bauer have gone unanswered. A court date is set for February 29th, in Fernley.

How about if I impersonate an officer?? I'm not a judge. What happens to me? I go to jail, or at least to trial. How is his resignation 'justice'. (pun intended).'

There are two sides to every story. The other side of this story is numerous other bad acts perpetrated by this guy. Abuse of power and abuse of women. Climbing over anyone and everyone for perceived social status. Egomaniacal self aggrandizement. He will get away with this and the charges will be dropped and the numerous other victims will have to just be happy with this much punishment.

I have been in front of this judge before, and I am very pleased to hear that he is finally under the gun. In my opion this judge truely believes he is above the law.I truely hope that the judge who is gonna over see this case puts aside the fact that he is a judge, and treats him the same way the same way if it was some one else with those charges. He needs to be barred from being a judge.

This was at the corner of Cottonwood and Farm District - where Cottonwood Elementary sits. What could have possessed this judge to get out of his car and flag her to pull over for something seemingly so minor? I am sure he is working on a great "it was for the kids' safety" story right now, as he "consults with his lawyer." And then he was so arrogant to pull into the QuikStop and get gas! He better hope those security cameras were broken that morning. As soon as he pulls out that ID on video, he's a goner. Regardless of his intentions (good or bad), this is a flagrant abuse of power, and he should be dismissed of his duties. Men like this should not be the decision makers over the lives of others.

This opens up a potential for a lawsuit against the judge and possibly the court or county. She should try her luck in civil court and see what happens. I bet a greedy lawyer can claim "rights violations" for days and sue for 100k easy. IF someone abuses the law, it leaves a opportunity for the victim to get his due justice. Being illegally detained and illegally arrested by a incompetent judge sounds like a viable case to me. It's called checks and balances and no one, not even a judge is above the law. Even if he is powerful, there will always be other courts and greedy lawyers to ensure the same level of "whack a mole" justice the judge was trying to dish out.

WOW! he is a judge and doesn't know he is impersonating an officer of the law, what an idiot he is..lol..I call it an injustice or is this a case " of being above the law"? There isn't too much to this story. There are two sides to a story but none the lest, another judge will have a good laugh at this one and will slap his hand & he is off the hook.

There is no two sides to illegaly displaying authority that you do not have...PERIOD. What is it judges say? "Ignorance of the law is no excuse" Unless you are suggesting she made the whole thing up and if that is what you are suggesting, then it follows that the people that cited the judge sided with her over him and ignored facts that she was making it up? You are quite simply wrong..

I am mildly amused to see this arrogant clown did this to a woman. I wonder if he did this because he thought he could get away with it or maybe because he knew it was safer than pulling over one of his male neighbors who would have shoved that 'badge' where the sun doesn't shine? Real COPS don't behave this way.
