As far as anyone trash talking the District Attorney, hello.... Robert Auer FILED THE CHARGES, intending to prosecute. To any and all of you who think a Judge voluntarily relinquishing a judgeship is a "pittance of punishment", go quit your job and let me know if your life was affected in any way. Additionally, if you REALLY care, you could look up how long and how expensive it is to bring about a criminal or civil trial and tell me why Auer's filing of charges which resulted in Judge Bauer's resignation, were not the most expedient, inexpensive and punitive way to punish this Judge. And what about little miss scary driver... did she get a moving violation? She crossed the yellow line, a judge saw it, and she's publicly admitting it. Glad she didn't hit anyone or anything... Given the limited information to which we are privvy, the only mistake the Judge made was to use a badge and say he was a cop (although he was a cop previously) -- even we, as members of the general public, can make a "citizen's arrest."

Another great example of the good ole' boy network, just quit before anything might happen like following the law Mr. Bauer has sworn to uphold, he was a bad Lyon County officer, an even worst NHP, and so what do we do, elect him to the bench. To hear him talk had nothing but contempt for the town he served, its nice to see him gone

Just another case of elected officials abusing thier power! This guy should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law BECAUSE he was a Judge. He knew better!

I have lived in Nevada long enough to know not to gamble. But I would bet any amount of money that if I imitated a law enforcement officer and pulled the same stunt the judge pulled. Alot more legal action would be brought against me even if I quit my job. What do you want to bet?

This is a sham and Auer needs to get back to the business of prosecuting those who violate the law regardless of who they are. His comment about "what more can we do" is ridiculous. How many offenders could take that comment and expect that if they quit their job, it's all over with. Isn't there an election coming soon? Auer you should be ashamed of yourself, you are letting your personal relationship with this judge color your decision not to prosecute. Apparently the message of your office is that a judge can pick and choose the law he wants to abide by. Thank you Brook for asking the hard question about whether quitting his job is all he has to do. Ridiculous.

This is outrageous! He should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This is why people don't report crimes because there are so many loop holes for the criminals to jump through that it is unbelievable. The victim is now probably scared that he will come after her for reporting him. Way to go Lyon County District Attorney Office. Hopefully the citizens of Lyon County will remember this at election time!

He has been getting away with abuse of power, abuse of women, and abuse of anything that got between his ego and his self delusion. He resigned because he is a very bad person and more wrongdoing would come out. I doubt that any further punishment will occur, although he really should learn the phrase "would you like fries with that?"

It is just suspicious as heck now and sends a very bad message to the public. He did something wrong, sure, buy why evacuate the position like there was a tornado warning? Was it just one mistake, or a number of them he was hiding? It casts doubt on his cases. If someone accuses you of something, you don't turn tail and run. You stand and take the beating like Sheriff Jo in Az. The only reason you might run is because something did happen...
