SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Jerry Brown is appointing the former executive producer of the "The Hangover" movies to the California Community College Board of Governors.

Brown announced the appointment of 37-year-old Scott Budnick on Friday. The Los Angeles Democrat has been increasingly active in prisoner rehabilitation efforts.

He founded The Anti-Recidivism Coalition and was previously appointed by the state Assembly speaker to the California Board of State and Community Corrections.

Budnick is also a member of the Angeles Conservation Corps board of directors and the Loyola Law School Center for Juvenile Law and Policy advisory board.

He was executive vice president and film producer at Green Hat Films from 1999 to 2013. He also produced the "Starsky and Hutch" movie.

The position carries a $100 meeting per diem and requires Senate confirmation.
