WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Crews took more than an hour to douse an early-morning fire at a West Hollywood office building that injured a firefighter and shut down a major thoroughfare.
Los Angeles County Fire Dispatch Supervisor Miguel Ornelas tells City News service the two-alarm blaze was reported around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday on Santa Monica Boulevard near La Cienega Boulevard.
Ornelas says when crews arrived flames and smoke were showing from both floors of the two-story building. About 75 firefighters responded.
One firefighter was injured but Ornelas did not know to what extent.
Nobody was inside the building when the fire broke out.
An arson investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause.
Santa Monica Boulevard and side streets were shut down for several hours.
