Fires hit 2 homes in La Quinta

LA QUINTA, Calif. (AP) — Fires have hit two separate homes in the Riverside County community of La Quinta.

Riverside County firefighters responded to fire on Avenida Alvarado just before 9 a.m. Wednesday and contained the blaze just over a half-hour later, but the 1,600-square-foot residence was destroyed..

No one was injured but two adults and two children have been displaced, and the American Red Cross has been notified.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Late Tuesday, a home in another part of La Quinta was damaged by fire.

Flame and smoke were showing from the rear of the 3,000-square-foot house on Dandelion Drive when firefighter responded to an 8:58 p.m. report.

The fire was contained at 9:25 p.m. and the Red Cross was notified that two adults and three children were displaced.
