LAS VEGAS (AP) — The former chairman of the Nevada Democratic Party is announcing his candidacy for an open seat on the state Board of Regents.
Sam Lieberman says he'll run in next year's election to represent District 5.
Lieberman is a 1996 graduate of University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He was state Democratic Party chairman from 2008 until 2011. He also has worked in the federal offices of Nevada U.S. Sen. Harry Reid and former Rep. Shelley Berkley.
He has been active in higher education, serving on various committees within the Nevada System of Higher Education.
He is chairman of Nevada Parents Encouraging Parents, a statewide organization that helps parents of children with disabilities, and is also chairman of a regional council of the Alzheimer's Association.
