LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal trial will be delayed for a former Las Vegas doctor and his business manager at a clinic at the center of a 2007 hepatitis C outbreak.
U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro agreed Tuesday to postpone trial for Dipak Desai (DEE'-pahk deh-SEYE') and Tonya Rushing from Aug. 20 to Feb. 11.
Desai and a former clinic nurse-anesthetist, Ronald Lakeman, were found guilty July 1 of separate criminal charges in state court in Las Vegas. They face sentencing Sept. 5 in that case.
In federal court, Desai and Rushing have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and health care fraud.
They're accused of overbilling for procedures at the Endoscopy Center of Nevada, Gastroenterology Center of Nevada and Desert Shadow Endoscopy Center in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the postponement.
