VICTORVILLE, Calif. (AP) — A prison spokesman says two inmates have died at a federal prison in Southern California and foul play is suspected.

Spokesman James Engleman said Sunday in a printed statement that the two inmates died late Saturday and their deaths are being investigated by the FBI as homicides.

No prison staff was harmed.

All inmates at the facility are on lock-down as the investigation proceeds.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller didn't immediately return a call.

Prison officials say no further information will be released over the weekend.

The inmates' names won't be released until their families can be notified.

The prison is one of four facilities at a federal correctional complex in Victorville, about 80 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

It houses 1,300 inmates.
