Host Belarus wins at Worlds

Minsk, Belarus ( - Buoyed by the support of the home fans, Belarus posted its first win at the 2014 World Hockey Championship on Sunday.

Sergei Kostitsyn and Andrei Stepanov each had a goal and one assist as the Belarusians delighted the crowd by beating Kazakhstan 4-1.

Germany and Norway remained undefeated through two games, while France followed up its stunning shootout win over Canada with a loss to Italy.

Thomas Oppenheimer scored on a penalty shot late in the third period to lift the Germans to a 3-2 victory over Latvia.

Norway fought back from an early 2-0 deficit to top Denmark 4-3.

The Italians edged France 2-1 on Markus Gander's goal with 58 seconds remaining in regulation.
