LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County officials say coroner's Lt. Joe Bale was killed in a motorcycle crash in Wyoming over the weekend.

Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter says Bale was fatally injured Sunday afternoon near Jackson Hole.

City News Service reports the 52-year-old was riding with a group of motorcycle officers from various law enforcement jurisdictions. The group was heading to the annual Sturgis rally in South Dakota when the accident occurred.

Bale is survived by his mother, brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews.

Services are pending.
