LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies have arrested an Antelope Valley man for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teenager in an abandoned home.

Deputies arrested 35-year-old James Smith of Lancaster Monday after the victim called to report the assault. Smith is being held on $1 million bail.

The department says Smith's also a person of interest in three other Antelope Valley sexual assaults dating back to 2012.

The 19-year-old woman was walking on the street when Smith allegedly approached her from behind, forced her into his vehicle and took her to an abandoned home where he sexually assaulted her. The woman called deputies and 90 minutes later detectives found him sitting in his parked vehicle five miles away.

An attorney representing Smith couldn't immediately be located.
