SAN FERNANDO, Calif. (AP) — A Los Angeles County businessman whose company sells nutritional supplements has been sentenced to nine years in prison for trying to hire someone to kill his ex-model wife.
Dino Guglielmelli was sentenced Wednesday in San Fernando after earlier pleading no contest to attempted murder.
Guglielmelli owned a nutritional supplements company called Creation's Garden. He was recorded offering a business associate $80,000 last year to kill Monica Olsen during a divorce and custody battle.
On the recording, the associate asks Guglielmelli how his two daughters would react to their mother's death. Guglielmelli replies: "They're totally fine. All they need is their dad."
Olsen fought back tears in court as she talked about the plot.
City News Service says Guglielmelli's lawyer, Anthony Brooklier, told reporters his client "feels terrible about what happened."
