LYNWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy has been shot and wounded but there's no word on his condition.

Sgt. David Payne says the deputy was shot in the shoulder shortly after 1 p.m. in the city of Lynwood.

Payne says the deputy was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.

Payne says a suspect is barricaded inside a home and there have been evacuations.
