LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County district attorney's office says a sheriff's deputy has pleaded no contest to rape under color of authority and soliciting a bribe.

The deputy, 29-year-old Jose Rigoberto Sanchez, entered the plea Thursday.

He will be sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison on April 1.

Deputy District Attorney Rosa Alarcon said that on Sept. 22, 2010, Sanchez pulled over a 24-year-old woman driver who had an outstanding warrant.

The Justice System Integrity Division prosecutor said Sanchez offered not to arrest the woman if she had sex with him, and he drove to the desert and raped her. He was also charged with soliciting a bribe of sexual activity from a woman he pulled over two nights later for DUI.
