RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Some area senior citizens are creating a chain to try and show a sign of solidarity against Social Security cuts.

The Nevada Alliance for Retired Americans and the Northern Nevada Latino Alliance were demonstrating outside the Social Security office on Harvard Way. The groups formed a human chain around the office to protest the Chained CPI Social Security benefit cut. According to a group spokesperson, the Chained CPI is an immediate social security benefit cut, that would result in an annual benefit that is roughly $1,000 lower by the time a beneficiary reaches age 85.
