Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners recalled pitcher Roenis Elias from Triple-A Tacoma to start Monday night's game in Philadelphia.
Elias was optioned to Tacoma on Aug. 8 after picking up his ninth win of the season. The 26-year-old rookie southpaw is 9-9 with a 4.14 earned run average in 23 starts with the Mariners this season. He is second among rookies for innings pitched and tied for third in games started.
The Mariners also optioned outfielder James Jones to Tacoma. Jones was hitting .256 with nine RBI in 83 games with the Mariners.
