Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Marlins starter Henderson Alvarez left Saturday's game in the third inning after getting struck with a line drive.

Alvarez, a 2014 All-Star, recorded the first out in the third before Joe Panik lined a 90 mph fastball back to the mound. The ball struck both of Alvarez's legs. He stayed with the play and threw to first for the out, but afterwards went down and had to leave the game.

The 24-year-old was helped off the field and diagnosed with a shin contusion. He is considered day-to-day.
