AllAlphas, First of all I don't wear a vest!!! must be lucky, or just know what I am doing, whatever, I talk the talk and walk the walk. I have no intent of taking existing firearms away, but we still need restrictions and requirements to control WHO has the guns and accountability for those who are not responsible. As for the militants waiting for the revolution, BRING IT. I have walked up many long driveways, without being seen!!

mrjustice---You were saying that no one wants to confiscate guns.........this was announced today in California: AB 174 (Asm. Rob Bonta, D-Oakland)) - Would begin the conversation on ending the grandfathering of existing weapons which are now illegal to purchase but are still legal to possess. “State laws on the books currently restrict the purchase and sale of assault weapons and large capacity magazines, but almost all laws only apply on a going forward basis and exempted weapons remain on our streets,” Bonta said. “With AB 174 we will closely examine this loophole and do what’s right for the children and people of California.” Looks like you're about to get your wish.........better wear your trauma plates because it won't be the politicians voting for this law who will be making that long walk up those driveways to confiscate these legally owned firearms..........

mrjustice---So you're saying that you don't own multiple handguns, or own a patrol rifle, or have standard capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds? That is the definition of an "arsenal" according to the media and those who wish to take away the rights of citizens these days.........I respect the job you do and have many close friends in law enforcement. I'm glad that you have had a long and safe career. We simply disagree on what rights should be guaranteed to the individual. I believe in more rights and you wish to take them away. Once again it's ironic that you state on the one hand "This is not about law enforcement, or big government this is about the people." but in your next statement say " Not about YOU or those who are sooo offended their rights will be taken away." I guess you don't consider anyone who disagrees with your point of view as "the people" mentioned in the Constitution............“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” still holds true for you eh? So what kind of guns are you using for law enforcement in your county these days? Still rockin' revolvers and lever action rifles?

AllAphas, By the way, I have served my country, served with the "east coast State Police" and now work for a west coast county. Still here, still able to jump 8 ft. fences and catch the 20 yr. old. OH MY, I must be doing something right. I don't lecture I give young officers advice from my experiences and mistakes and not how to clean their guns.

AllAlphas, maybe you will go to the movies, and someone carrying a gun may mistaken you for a bad guy!! Be real. This is not about law enforcement, or big government this is about the people. Not about YOU or those who are sooo offended their rights will be taken away. I am sure you work that both ways too!! I don't have an arsenal, don't need one. Do you??

mrjustice--- Actually, seeing as you're a law enforcement officer I suspect you do possess an arsenal at your disposal since most cops have, at a minimum; a semi-automatic pistol with multiple standard capacity (15-18 round) magazines, a backup firearm typically either another semi-auto or a revolver, as well as a patrol rifle(what the press refers to as an assault weapon when owned by civilians) with multiple standard capacity 30 round magazines. No wonder you feel so safe........ Perhaps if you could guarantee our safety 24/7 as our personal law enforcement "bodyguard" we could bask in your aura of invincibility, but according to the courts law enforcement has no legal responsibility to protect the individual. We can't sue law enforcement for not being there when we need them. Therefore many of us choose to take on that responsibility ourselves. I'm disappointed that you seem irrationally threatened by that choice. The fact that you're still pushing the idea that the safety of society as a whole is more important than individual liberties is disturbing. I suspect you will be one of the few officers that will be saying "Yes sir" to the politicians if the day ever comes when confiscations are ordered and justifying it in your head by telling yourself it's "for the children" and "they have us cops to keep them safe, what do they need guns for". You're attitude reminds me of this quote........“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” ? George Orwell, Animal Farm P.S. I'm sure your fellow officers just love being lectured by the east coaster on how they ought to be doing things out here..........

Allalphas, actually it's quite fun dealing with the mentalities out here especially the law enforcement, whom I find a need to correct some of their Ca. training. Don't try to condescend me! I am sure I have been in a lot more life threatening situations then you and most other officers. Individual liberties are important but the liberties of society are more important that we all are created equal and safe. If you need an arsenal to feel safe or tough so be it. I don't!!!!

mrjustice---It is quite obvious that you hail from the east coast......you display all the traits of an individual who believes large government is the solution to all of societies problems, and grew up in a city where calling someone else to come take care of your issues was your first and only option. I suspect you believe if we could just pay more taxes for more cops with bigger guns, and take away all those nasty .45 caliber handguns (that are only designed and good for killing people according to you) then all the criminals and mentally ill individuals would see what a perfect society you've legislated and stop doing naughty things. You also make it obvious that you don't think law abiding citizens should have concealed weapons permits and that a persons right to self defense ends at their front door. Your law enforcement superiority complex is sickening to many of us. You once again state that no one wants to take guns away from civilians.........while conveniently ignoring the statement Diane Feinstein made during the last assault weapons debate that I quoted below. She supports confiscating firearms from law abiding citizens, she just realizes she doesn't have the votes to pass such an unconstitutional law in Congress right now. I would suggest that since you find it so dangerous to be a law enforcement officer out here in the wild west that you transfer to a city back east with strict gun laws such as Chicago, Detroit, or Washington, DC where you can feel safe knowing that strict gun laws have been passed that will be be followed to the letter by the criminals you pursue..........

This is hopeless, there is no argument to the blind. For starters, as a Police Officer you of all professionals should know when you respond to a domestic, or serve papers or stop a motor vehicle your whole life can pass by you. Yes that's the risk. Well, those in domestics who do own guns, or those who have papers serve also own guns. No one wants to take guns away, they just want rules, restrictions and maybe a little more responsibility as far as training. When I said a 45 kills people, that is exact purpose that gun was designed. Other weapons can kill but they were not made to be man killers i.e. hunting, protection, sport. Why do we even have police??? Better yet why do police even carry guns?? Don't need them if everyone else does. I don't like the idea of shopping in a mall with my family knowing there are nuts out there, wanna be cops, vigilantes, and criminals who all carry guns guns guns. If you want the right to bear arms you should do it in your castle, be properly trained and responsible and not paranoid the government is keeping an eye on you. I have been in Law Enforcement for over 30yrs. and work currently out west but also quite a few years on the east coast. I too know what people desire and I have seen how people out here look and feel their guns, to them it's like having sex. It's disgusting. If you enjoy hunting, or practice shooting or just like to collect guns, more power to you. We need Restrictions restriction and restrictions. And these Sheriff's who are taking a stance of defiance show how really professional they really are. I went to war for the "We" the people, the "United" states, for our children and freedom and now a "few" wish to debate the issue of personal liberties vs society liberties. Right lets just arm our teachers, lets just arm the cashiers in grocery stores. I am not the brainwashed person.
