STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — More than 50 students at Stanford University have fallen ill after eating at an on-campus housing complex this week.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports Friday that health officials are investigating a potential norovirus outbreak as the cause. Four students were taken to a hospital for dehydration.
Fifty-two students became ill after dining at Florence Moore Hall. They reported flu-like symptoms that included vomiting and diarrhea. The hall is being thoroughly cleaned.
Santa Clara County health officials say an initial review found no employees or food handlers were responsible for the outbreak. They also don't believe the suspected virus was spread through a common food source.
