Reno, NV-- (KRNV and www.mynews4.com
)-- The three men charged in connection with the murder of a Hells Angels member at the Sparks Nugget in September appeared in Washoe District Court under heavy security Friday morning.
Gary Rudnick, Cesar Villagrana and Ernesto Gonzalez are accused of the fatal shooting of Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew, president of the Hells Angels San Jose chapter, September 22 at the Sparks Nugget. Prosecutors say the three are charged under the "felony murder rule", which dictates that anyone who is taking part in a felony crime that results in a death can be charged with murdering that person.
In this case, prosecutors say the three men-- who are members of rival motorcycle gangs-- agreed to take part in a fight that ended with Pettigrew's fatal shooting.
A trial date has been set for October 29, 2012. A bail hearing is set for December 21. Rudnick and Gonzalez are in jail without bail. Villagrana has posted bail and been released. The three men will be tried together.
