NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — A 48-year-old driver pleaded guilty to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter and was sentenced to 60 days in jail in an NV Energy truck crash that killed the wife of a Nellis Air Force Base airman and injured two other women.
Police Officer Chrissie Coon says Mark Parker took a plea deal Wednesday in North Las Vegas Municipal Court.
Parker also pleaded guilty to failure to obey a traffic-control device and failure to use due care. He was fined $3,000 and given an additional 120 days' house arrest.
Authorities said 20-year-old Tayler Council died when the 40-ton NV Energy utility vehicle ran a red light and hit her sedan in November 2011 at Centennial Parkway and Losee (LOW-see) Road.
It wasn't immediately clear Wednesday if Parker is still an NV Energy employee.
