I've always said the South would rise again. Actually, I find this concept to be rib-splitting hilarious. Do any of these idiots realize that they would no longer be eligible to receive ANY federal funding for anything? Imagine that. The upside of that is that it would drastically reduce the fraud and abuse of the federal grants system which is in the hundreds of billions. This could then be applied to the national deficit.

Should the states wish to get the attention of the President, withhold and divert to the state's coffers the all Federal Taxes imposed. The Declaration of Independence and Constitution state there is a fundamental right to secede or over throw the errant government. Our current Administration is trying to hold our military leaders to standards that most of the White House and Congress cannot meet. What's wrong with this? News reporters(?) talk of Social Security and Federal Pensions as 'Entitlements'. They aren't. The public was forced into funding them through payroll taxes as retirement hedges and auxiliary funding. The government forced us into a contract, which we paid into in good faith. Isn't this the 1st or 2nd Presidential election cycle where 'social media' has had a major impact? In the past, for the most part, didn't we either get our info from the major media outlets? You might call into your local talk-show...or sound off with a letter to the editor in your regional newspaper, but things have really opened up with Facebook ( for example ). I only have around 450 'contacts', but they're from all over the world as well as the U.S. I'm no longer limited to 'primarily' ONLY the views of those I agree with. As much $$$$ as was poured into all those campaign ads by either party, I think they did little to inform....as much as to irritate. I saw a LOT of REAL back & forth debate on Facebook. LOTS of vitriol from ALL sides. Election cycles will never be the same. The divide has ALWAYS been there, but NOW....it's right there where we all can see it & participate. As long as THIS country remains in perpetual 'gridlock', we will fall further & further behind, as the rest of the world moves ahead. Maybe splitting the U.S. in 2 WOULD be the best option. Conservatives to the southern states & liberals to the north & west. No one would likely 'abandon ' the Constitution, but would be free to 'interpret' it in their preferred fashion. Want religion in schools? Head south. Recreational use of cannabis? Head north. Stay out of our lives & we'll stay out of your's. Still one nation...but like Korea, or Vietnam....just 2 different ways of life. The bickering would STOP! The right-wingers can have all the George Ws & Cheneys they want. Ignore global warming & pray for the 'end times'. The progressives can develop green energy technology, care about the environment, etc......under the leadership of all the Clintons, Gores, Obamas WE want. I guess 'independents' could move to somewhere in the middle. Let the migrations begin. I'm sure businesses will still set up shop in all 50 states. No 'passports' necessary. Just follow the 'rules' in YOUR half...

Romney lover News 4 would paint the picture as if this is because people are angry about Obama keeping his seat in the white house! This is about so much more then Obama being re-elected and the Republican party's karma bite in the rump for doing what they did to Ron Paul! This is about "The People" waking up because our government and media have gotten so bold, they don't even bother to nibble our ears anymore before they rape and pillage us!

I agree hennypenny, a bunch of losers whinning because they lost an election. Probably led by Sharon Angle. I say let them leave and go elsewhere. Strip them of their citizenship and let them leave this country. It takes a vote and trust me, they don't have enough to win it.
