NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Orange County health officials say a beach along Newport Bay is closed for swimming and diving after a sewage spill.

Larry Honeybourne with the Orange County Healthcare Agency says about 50 gallons of sewage was spilled Wednesday from a boat into the water at a dock near Bayside Drive Beach.

Honeybourne tells the Los Angeles Times the beach is expected to remain closed for at least two days, or until testing shows that bacteria has returned to acceptable levels.
