New York, NY (Sports Network) - North Dakota State's Joe Lund was named Tuesday as the 2012 recipient of the Rimington Award which honors the outstanding center in the FCS.

Lund, a 6-foot-2, 303-pound senior from Bloomington, Minn., is a starter for the Bison squad which will try to win their second straight FCS national title against Sam Houston State on Jan. 5 in Frisco, Texas.

He was a All-Missouri Valley Football Conference first-team selection. With his help on the offensive line, NDSU leads the conference in scoring (31.4 points per game) and rushing (178 yards per game).

The Rimington Award is named for Dave Rimington, a consensus first-team All- America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982.

Lund will receive his award Jan. 12 in Lincoln, Neb.
