NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — North Las Vegas police say a woman who was living in "deplorable" conditions with more than 100 cats has been issued one citation and could possibly face more as the investigation progresses.

Officer Chrissie Coon said Tuesday that animal control officers issued a misdemeanor animal cruelty citation to the 47-year-old owner after removing 112 cats and one dog from the home on Thursday.

She says animal control officers have been visiting the house daily and have recovered two more cats in the meantime.

The animals were taken to a shelter for evaluation.

Coon says city officials declared the house uninhabitable after the operation.
