SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — A San Jose police officer is out of jail after being arrested on suspicion of dealing marijuana that he kept in a storage facility.

Police say officer Son Vu was booked at Santa Clara County Jail on Tuesday on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale. The 20-year veteran officer has been put on paid leave.

Sgt. Heather Randol says police were called to a storage facility by employees who reported finding a substantial amount of marijuana consistent with possession to sell.

Randol says police later determined that the 42-year-old Vu had rented the storage space.

Vu was released after posting $20,000 bail on Wednesday. He is due in court later this month.

Police Chief Larry Esquivel said in a statement that the department will not tolerate such criminal conduct.
