LAS VEGAS (AP) — Railroad officials say a person was hit and killed by an Illinois-bound freight train north of Las Vegas.

Union Pacific officials say the crash happened a little after 6 a.m. Wednesday, west of Interstate 15 and south of Moapa.

Clark County coroner's officials didn't have information on the male pedestrian's identity.

Union Pacific officials say the train's crewmembers were relieved of their duties and were placed in a peer counseling support program.

The train was coming from Los Angeles.
