Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies placed pitcher Jeff Manship on the 15-day disabled list among a slew of roster moves prior to Sunday's game against the New York Mets.
With their bullpen taxed following back-to-back 14-inning games, the Phillies recalled pitcher Phillippe Aumont from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and purchased the contract of left-hander Cesar Jimenez from the IronPigs.
Manship struck out six over four flawless innings of relief against the Mets on Saturday before sustaining a strained right quadriceps while trying to beat out an infield grounder in the bottom of the 13th inning.
Aumont went 1-1 with a 4.12 earned run average in 18 games at Lehigh Valley, while Jimenez posted a 1.67 ERA in 19 games, including two starts, for the IronPigs.
To make room on the roster, the Phillies optioned outfielder/first baseman Darin Ruf to Lehigh Valley. Ruf went just 1-for-10 with a homer in seven games for the Phillies this season.
