Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled pitcher Jeff Locke from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday.
Locke will be making his first major league start since Sept. 22, 2013. He was 0-2 with a 5.04 earned run average in five combined starts with Single-A Bradenton and Triple-A Indianapolis this season.
In 2013, the 26-year-old earned all-star honors, however, after posting a 6.66 ERA through his final 11 starts he was ultimately left off the postseason roster.
To make room for Locke, the Pirates optioned Casey Sadler to Indianapolis. Sadler appeared in two games for Pittsburgh this season, throwing four scoreless innings.
