OAKLEY, Calif. (AP) — Police now say an 11-year-old Contra Costa County boy who died of a gunshot wound intentionally shot himself.
Police found the boy after being called to his Oakley home a little after 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Investigators initially believed the boy shot himself accidentally.
But they said on Thursday after an autopsy by the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office that the wound was intentionally inflicted.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the boy was a sixth-grader at Holy Rosary School in Antioch.
