PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) — Investigators say a burglary suspect hit three Palm Springs police officers with his car and the officers pulled their guns and fired as he sped away.
A 49-year-old bystander wounded in the leg by a police bullet was treated at a hospital and released.
The officers were treated and released from a hospital early Friday.
The Desert Sun of Palm Springs says the suspect has eluded capture.
The officers were staking out a vehicle believed used in a home burglary when two men got into the car late Wednesday.
They ordered the men out of the vehicle but the driver resisted and backed his car into the officers.
The officers then fired and the fleeing vehicle. It's unclear if the driver was wounded.
The passenger is being questioned.
