LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors say a former Long Beach priest has been sentenced to a year of sex offender counseling after pleading no contest to sexually molesting three teen girls.

Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Zepeda says 68-year-old Luis Jose Cuevas was also ordered Wednesday to register for life as a sex offender and will be on five years of felony probation.

Zepeda says Cuevas admitted to groping a 14-year-old girl in 2010 and 19-year-old twin sisters in 2012, over their clothes. His plea and sentence spared the women from having to testify at a preliminary hearing.

Cuevas was a priest at St. Anthanasius Catholic Church.

Zepeda read a victim impact statement from the twins, who said Cuevas will need God more now.
