Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers recalled pitcher Robbie Ross Jr. from Triple-A Round Rock to start Saturday's contest against the Houston Astros.

Ross has bounced back and forth between the majors and minors in 2014, going 2-5 with a 6.06 earned run average in 19 appearances (10 starts) with Texas.

In addition, the Rangers activated pitcher Derek Holland from the 60-day disabled list, optioned pitcher Nick Tepesch to Round Rock and designated first baseman/outfielder Mike Carp for assignment.

Holland has gone a combined 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA in six starts between Double-A Frisco and Round Rock as he finished up his rehabilitation from a knee injury. The left-hander went 10-9 with a 3.42 ERA in 33 starts with the Rangers in 2013.

Tepesch, who can be recalled when the Triple-A season is through, has gone 4-8 with a 4.44 ERA in 18 games this year.

Carp hit .125 (5-for-40) with four RBI in 17 games with Texas since being picked up from the Boston Red Sox off waivers. Over 59 overall games this season, the 28-year-old California native is hitting an anemic .175.
