UPDATE: The Burn Code Red has been lifted.

RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Due to increasing levels of fine particulate pollution and the persistent temperature inversion weather conditions affecting the area, the Washoe County Health District, Air Quality Management Division is issuing a Red Burn Code notice.

AQMD says use of fireplaces, wood stoves, and pellet stoves is prohibited until weather conditions have improved.

The current air quality index is 91 due to fine particulate matter (PM2.5). At that level, the air quality is considered to be in the upper end of the moderate range.
