RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- A man has died after being shot with a high powered air gun.

Last night, Sept. 26, at 6:27pm Reno Police Department officers responded to the area of W. 4th and S. Sierra Streets regarding a subject down and mostly unresponsive. The victim asked an uninvolved witness, who had come upon the subject, to get him medical attention. Upon arrival, REMSA attempted to perform lifesaving measures but unfortunately 57-yr-old Michael Anderson succumbed to his injuries.

At the time, there were no readily apparent injuries to the victim and it was believed he died from medical issues. This morning during a routine autopsy it was determined the victim had in fact been shot with a high-powered AIR gun which caused his death. RPD Detectives were immediately notified and they began a criminal investigation.

It is unknown if the victim was shot by a subject walking or from a vehicle, however, detectives are reviewing several video tapes from the immediate area and are following up on several leads. The investigation is continuing.

Anyone having information relating to this crime or the suspect(s) should contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2188, Secret Witness at 322-4900, www.secretwitness.com, or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword - SW
