RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have identified a Riverside police officer they believe was wounded by Christopher Dorner in an ambush that killed his partner.

Twenty-seven-year-old Andrew Tachias was shot in the arms and shoulders and remains hospitalized in stable condition. His name was withheld until it was confirmed that Dorner had died in a Tuesday confrontation.

Police say Dorner — a triple murder suspect — ambushed Tachias and Michael Crain in their patrol car on Feb. 7, killing Crain.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/VjGf4Z ) says Tachias, who joined Riverside on Dec. 21, saw another partner shot in September while on the Inglewood force.

Police there say someone fired at Tachias and Benjamin Sanza from a car they stopped. Sanza was treated for a leg wound.
