Denver, CO ( - The Colorado Rockies agreed to terms with pitcher Juan Nicasio and outfielder Drew Stubbs on one-year contracts Friday, thus avoiding arbitration.

Nicasio made a career-high 31 starts in 2013, going 9-9 with a 5.14 ERA and 119 strikeouts in 157 2/3 innings.

The 27-year-old right-hander has a record of 15-16 with a 4.92 ERA in 55 starts over three seasons in the majors, all with Colorado.

Stubbs was acquired by the Rockies from Cleveland on Dec. 18 after batting .233 with 10 home runs, 45 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 146 games for the Indians last season.

Selected eighth overall by the Reds in 2006, Stubbs broke into the majors in 2009 and spent his first four seasons with Cincinnati, where he batted .241 with 59 homers, 178 RBI and 110 stolen bases in 486 games.
