SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Sacramento County elections officials say they have found 407 uncounted ballots cast in the Nov. 6 election.

County Registrar Jill LaVine says her "stomach dropped" after the ballots were found in a sealed bag on a warehouse shelf.

She said the ballots were placed in a red bag on Election Day instead of the designated pink ones used to hold ballots because workers at the Natomas Community Center ran out of pink bags.

Red bags typically hold supplies such as provisional envelopes, pens and registration cards.

LaVine said Thursday that an analysis showed the ballots would not have changed the outcome of any of contest in the 92 affected precincts.

The ballots were found Feb. 7 as workers went through red supply bags to prepare for the next election.
