SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Stores inside a Sacramento shopping mall were placed on a brief lockdown after a fight erupted in the food court.

KCRA-3 reported the incident based on the accounts of one of its newscasters, who was inside the mall at the time. The station reported that customers were ordered to the rear of the shops just before 5 p.m. Wednesday and that the lockdown was lifted shortly afterward.

The corporate offices of the Arden Fair Mall directed all inquiries to the mall's security director, who did not immediately respond to a telephone message. The Sacramento Police Department did not respond to telephone and email messages.

Sacramento County Sheriff's spokesman Jason Ramos said deputies responded after initial reports of shots being fired, but he said those reports turned out to be unfounded.
