LAKE ARROWHEAD, Calif. (AP) — A sculpture of a San Bernardino County sheriff's detective killed by a rogue former Los Angeles police officer has been unveiled in Lake Arrowhead.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports (http://bit.ly/17gdCHl) a nine-foot monument of Jeremiah MacKay was put on public display Sunday. MacKay was shot by ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner Feb. 12 after following him to a mountain cabin that later went up in flames. Dorner's remains were found inside.
More than 200 people attended a ceremony before walking a short distance to an area where the sculpture was unveiled.
The sculpture, depicting MacKay from the waist up, shows the officer with his right hand over his heart. The figure is wearing a beret and has a dove next to him.
