Nevada Senator Greg Brower has introduced legislation aimed at tightening what he calls a loophole in campaign finance law.
This issue was the subject of a recent Fact Finder investigation which uncovered that former Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley still has $500,000 in campaign funds even though she hasn't run for office in the past two elections.
All that's required under current law is a donation of $100 for someone to be considered a candidate and be allowed to hold on to their campaign funds.
Brower's bill, SB 194, would limit the amount of time that former public officials are allowed to keep those campaign funds.
