LOS ANGELES (AP) — The release of a serial rapist linked to attacks on dozens of women will likely be delayed after a landlord decided against supporting the man's move to northern Los Angeles County.
The Los Angeles Times reports that 62-year-old Christopher Hubbart will still be released, but not before a state contractor searches for a different location.
Hubbard was committed to a state mental hospital for sexually violent predators nearly two decades ago. He admitted to raping 38 women in California between 1971 and 1982.
The landlord's withdrawal of support comes a week after the address in Lake Los Angeles, an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, was released publicly as Hubbart's possible new home.
More than 420 people submitted comments about the proposed move, with all but one opposing it.
