Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia 76ers guard Jason Richardson had a successful procedure performed on his troublesome left knee on Tuesday, the team announced.
Richardson had an articular cartilage lesion on the medial femoral condyle in his left knee repaired at New York's Mt. Sinai Medical Center. The 12-year veteran will miss the remainder of the season, with previous reports indicating he would need between 6-to-9 months of recovery time.
The 32-year-old has not played since Jan. 18, one day after having his knee drained.
Richardson, acquired by the Sixers from Orlando as part of the four-team trade that also sent All-Star center Dwight Howard from the Magic to the Los Angeles Lakers back in August, averaged 10.5 points and 3.8 rebounds over 33 games this season.
