FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California man has been sentenced for attempting to murder his 2-month-old son by hitting and attempting to suffocate him, and using a blanket to swing him by the neck.
The Orange County Register reports (http://bit.ly/1fvA0Xv ) that 26-year-old Joshua Allen Robey of Costa Mesa was sentenced Friday to 13 years to life in prison on charges of attempted murder, torture and child abuse.
Robey and his girlfriend of two years were living together on and off in October 2011 when she set up a hidden camera to catch him cheating.
Instead, she saw him abusing their infant son, including swinging him around for more than a minute using a blanket around the neck and punching him.
The baby suffered fractured ribs, bleeding to the brain and liver injuries.
