RENO, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) -- Stefphon Jefferson is one of the Mountain West Players of the Week for the week through Sept 1. Jefferson earns Offensive Player of the Week honors, according to NevadaWolfPack.com.
NevadaWolfPack.com reports junior Stefphon Jefferson carried the ball 34 times for career-highs of 147 yards and three touchdowns in Nevada’s season-opening 31-24 road win at California. The running back from Visalia, Calif., accounted for three of the Wolf Pack’s four rushing touchdowns, scoring from two yards out on each TD. His final touchdown came with 36 seconds left and proved to be the game-winner. Jefferson was the only running back to carry the ball in the contest, and his 34 attempts were the most by a Pack player since Luke Lippincott had 36 against Utah State on 2007.
Jefferson played every offensive snap for the Wolf Pack. He eclipsed the century mark for the third time in his career and this marked his first multi-touchdown game since scoring twice at New Mexico State last season. He is the first Wolf Pack player to win a Mountain West weekly award.
