RENO, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV) -- The U.S. Preventive Service Task Force has issued its long-awaited guideline on lung cancer screening.

The independent group of experts is recommending annual screenings for at-risk adults who are 55 to 80 years old. The task force defines "at-risk" as those who have smoked a pack or more of cigarettes per day for at least 30 years, and currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.

The recommendation is for an annual low-dose CT screening.
