The Citadel football sets coaching staff

Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Citadel's new football coach Mike Houston announced his coaching staff Friday, and five of the 10 members have come with him from his former school, Lenoir-Rhyne.

Joining the 42-year-old Houston from Lenoir-Rhyne are Brent Thompson (offensive coordinator/quarterback/B-backs), Blake Harrell (special teams coordinator/inside linebackers), Lou Conte (slot backs), Ron Boyd (offensive line) and Roy Tesh (defensive line).

Former Citadel cornerback and assistant coach Maurice Drayton (defensive coordinator/cornerbacks), former South Carolina State defensive backs coach Joel Taylor (safeties/pass defense coordinator) and former East Carolina graduate assistant Tripp Weaver (outside linebackers) also joined the staff, while JP Gunter (recruiting coordinator/wide receivers) and Scott Yielding (tight ends) were retained from former coach Kevin Higgins' staff.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 5-7 season, including 4-4 in the Southern Conference this past season.
