RENO, Nev. (AP) — Tickets for this year's Reno National Championship Air Races are on sale as organizers await permits to resume the event after last year's deadly crash.
The Reno Gazette-Journal http://on.rgj.com/GCsrhl on Tuesday reports the Reno Air Racing Association still needs a waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration and a permit from the Airport Authority of Washoe County.
Organizers pledged to continue the event that draws thousands each year to Reno-Stead Airport after a crash last September that left 11 people dead, including the pilot. Another 70 people were injured when the plane crashed near a spectator area.
